As every year during snowfall, we expect a lot of people in the Hautes Fagnes Natural Park. As its name suggests, this area is a natural park, and therefore not suitable for tourism. If car parks are available, they are never large enough to accommodate walkers who come to enjoy the joys of winter in this region.
The police of the local area Stavelot – Malmedy announces that parking areas will be adapted along the national roads. But not everything is permitted because certain sectors are protected for the well-being of flora and fauna. The police will patrol to warn of authorized or unauthorized areas.
A few things to remember:
– If you park in a prohibited areazero tolerance will be applied and the vehicle will be repaired and it will cost you 220€.
– Come as soon as possible. Before 10 a.m., it’s the perfect time to enjoy the scenery without too many people.
– Do not forget that we are in winter and night falls early ! At 4:30 p.m. it is almost dark and there is no artificial lighting in the park. Don’t be surprised or plan a lamp.
